For my final Learning Project post I thought I would create videos to show the steps I take when it comes to making macarons.
I begin by weighing out all my ingredients.
The painstakingly sifting process. Remember, when it comes to making macarons you must sift TWICE.
Fluffing your egg whites for 10 minutes.
Step Four & Five:
The folding of ingredients. This is when I incorporate the dry ingredients into my wet ingredients. I also included my piping skills (or lack of) in this video. At the end of the video you’ll see that I bang my cookie sheet HARD on my table. I never did discuss this important step in any of my previous posts. It’s easy to overlook the small things but luckily my video caught it. By banging my cookie sheet down I am releasing any air bubbles. This will help prevent my macarons from cracking.
Let your cookies cool completely before assembling them with your favourite filling! For me, thats anything buttercream! Then Enjoy your Gluten Free tasty treat! Also, do not be fooled by my boys modest behaviour in the video. I told them beforehand that this was going on my blog!
Baking macarons every week has been a learning process. Whenever I pulled out my red scale my boys would cheer, “Yay! macaron cookies!” I must admit I enjoyed hearing them say that because even though my macarons didn’t look the way they were supposed to my boys sure enjoyed them.
Throughout these last few weeks, I was able to figure out what worked, what didn’t work, and what areas I still need to improve on. In the end, I have no regrets to selecting macarons for my Learning Project.
FYI my sons & family have been asking when I’m going to be baking macarons next. So it looks like my macaron days are not over.
